Here is a painting of my neighborhood in Helena in the winter. I've been getting a bit more into realism lately. We'll see if it lasts. I was inspired by the northern renaissance paintings of winter scenes by Pieter Bruegel. You can see one of his here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pieter_Bruegel_d._%C3%84._087.jpg. I was trying to capture the cool tones of the winter light, but also the yucky browns that form on the hills and roads after the snow sits on the ground for weeks without any fresh storms.
